Aventiv develops customized, secure tablets that provide incarcerated individuals with a lifeline to the outside world. These tablets offer access to educational programs, communication tools and even commissary funds, providing a sense of normalcy in an otherwise restricted environment.
“These tablets are a lifeline for the people that are incarcerated,” said Lindsey Nix, SVP of Partner Success at Blueriver. “They’re really the go-to for people to have a sense of normalcy – a gateway for incarcerated individuals to be able to communicate with their family and friends. As a portal to the outside world, they're also able to go through educational programs and look at reintroduction to the communities, post-incarceration.”
Aventiv found themselves struggling with the quality assurance of their product line. The company’s India-based development partner was unable to meet their needs, resulting in subpar output and poor quality of work. Frustrated with the lack of progress and poor communication, Aventiv sought a new partnership that not only guaranteed superior service but that also streamlined efficiencies and better responded to market demands.
Aventiv appointed Blueriver in 2019 to specialize in smart data and intelligence to not only improve product quality but also expand their reach to address other areas such as education, purchasing and gifting – all in support of incarcerated persons.

The lab's build-out has now entered its second phase, marked by significant progress across various fronts. Initially, the emphasis was on acquiring and distributing tablets to team members, offering hands-on experience and scenario replication for client-specific needs. This phase now focuses on integrating larger devices, establishing a comprehensive operational setup including servers and kiosks. Progressing steadily, the current phase is dynamically moving towards completion.
These remarkable accomplishments stem from a refined team structure that amplifies efficiency. While the initial team in India encompassed 38 individuals, Blueriver’s strategic approach enabled them to maintain equal excellence and productivity with a leaner team of 25 members. This consolidation yielded substantial cost savings for Aventiv while elevating output quality.
