PRIDE Industries, is one of the nation's largest nonprofit employers of people with disabilities. PRIDE provides outsourcing solutions that meet the manufacturing and service needs of Fortune 500 companies and government agencies nationwide.

As a nonprofit social enterprise operating in 14 states and the nation’s capital, PRIDE employs more than 5,000 people, including more than 2,800 people with disabilities. 

PRIDE Industries partnered with Blue River to design and develop a new web and mobile interface for their organization’s primary web site as well as the web site for their foundation. Blue River provided content strategy, information architecture, graphic design and development services to create a site that met the project objectives including:

  • Reorganizing content to provide clear and actionable paths for site visitors to the content they desire.
  • Effectively positioning the organization and communicating core messages.
  • Defining a new online visual identity.
  • Implementing a web content management system that will provide improved management capabilities and scalability for future growth.

One Site With Multiple Audiences

The project was unique due to the need to address multiple audiences and required a user experience that allowed site visitors to select their path based on their needs and interests including:

  • Locating services for businesses and public entities
  • Creating paths to employment services for people with disabilities
  • Exploring career opportunities for management, skilled labor and people with disabilities

Blue River designed and implemented a unique approach to the site by creating a virtual “front door” that allowed site visitors to select their path and receive a site experience with well-crafted content and imagery specific to that audience.

Promoting Involvement

Additionally, Blue River developed a separate microsite for the PRIDE Industries Foundation, which provides people the opportunity to join with PRIDE Industries to create and expand opportunities for people with disabilities. The foundation microsite provides information about the foundation's purpose, the various way to give to the foundation as well as a gateway to process donations online.

The entire site was designed and developed to adapt to different device sizes ensuring an optimized experience on desktop computers, tablets and smart phones.

Content Management

Blue River integrated Mura CMS the open-source, content management system to handle PRIDE's web content management needs. This system allows the PRIDE communications staff to edit and create content via Mura's web-based interface without the need for technical support or web development personnel.
